Global Smart Bed Company Uses Garmin Smartwatch Data to Help Customers Get Better Sleep

Garmin Health attended together with Ergomotion® the FIBO – the world’s largest fitness trade show – in Cologne, Germany, from April 13th to 16th. ErgoSportive™ is an intelligent and customisable recovery system that provides an innovative link between a smart bed and Garmin wearables and is the latest FIBO Innovation & Trend Award 2023 winner in the Lifestyle, Life-Balance & Wellness category.

The worldwide smart and adjustable bed maker Ergomotion® has pioneered an app-based sleep ecosystem that connects Garmin smartwatches with adjustable beds to offer preventive self-care by balancing body, mind and spirit. Metrics from Garmin wearables are combined with data captured from smart sensors in the bed base to provide users with 24/7 health information and daily recommendations for improved recovery, sleep and overall health.

The ErgoSportive™ system includes an accompanying app that provides daily health updates, sleep tracking, personalised suggestions and music. This smart and adjustable recovery system is made possible through integration with the Health API, which feeds all-day health metrics from Garmin smartwatches to the ErgoSportive™ ecosystem. Garmin wearables are used to personalise feedback and maximise the use of the sleep system by using heart rate, respiratory rate, RMR calories, Body Battery™ and stress data.

“Ergomotion has been developing and creating innovations in sleep technology, and ErgoSportive is one more solution that leverages our beds as more than a piece of furniture, becoming a gadget with a direct impact on the body’s recovery and sleeps quality. This new era of the adjustable and smart beds is on the way to proffer an effective regeneration during the night and more energetic wake-ups,“ says Nuno Figueiredo, Ergomotion® Managing Director Europe.

The goal is to combine the data sets from two previously separate technologies so users can see a greater impact on sleep awareness, “regenerated wake-up” and personal performance. Sleep hygiene is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and is important for stress reduction and fitness recovery. Joern Watzke, Garmin Health senior director of global B2B sales therefore states: “Garmin wearables provide accurate sleep-tracking and an overall snapshot of how well you are sleeping with sleep scores, estimated duration of sleep stages, and detailed recommendations for the user.” While one component alone can give a user valuable information about sleep health, the two technologies combined will provide a more comprehensive picture than ever before.
